Light is responsible for creating an atmosphere capable of transmitting sensations and emotions. The final result of any project largely depends on it. It doesn&#8217;t matter the type of camera used or how professional it may be because, so far, none has the ability to illuminate exactly where and how we want. For this, having the necessary lighting systems and knowing how to arrange them properly is essential.     <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In today&#8217;s article, we focus on one of the basic aspects related to lighting. These are the   <\/span><b>differences between the main light and the fill light<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span> <\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Main lighting and fill lighting<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To understand the differences between main light and fill light, it is essential to be clear about the function of each of them: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Main lighting<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Directly illuminates the subject or the center of the image or shot. It is the predominant light and with it, it is possible to create shadows, define shapes, and set textures. In this sense, it is important to highlight that the main light can be composed of different sources. Each of them should be focused on a specific objective and enhance a particular aspect of it.    <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Fill lighting<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Its main function is to soften the shadows created by the main lighting, but without eliminating them. It is important that the fill light does not vary or influence the exposure. It should also not create added shadows or shapes that distort the final objective.   <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we can see, the differences between the main light and the fill light are very evident, as they are two completely different ways of illuminating but that need to be well balanced to obtain the best results. For this, we recommend making several tests until finding the right intensity and position.
