Sidogras success story – Flat lay photography of fabrics

Since 1953, the family-owned company Sidogras has been manufacturing interlining fabrics and, currently, also fabrics for shirts, blouses, pants, and jackets. What made this company a European leader in the sector is that, thanks to their large central warehouses in Barcelona, they offer immediate service worldwide. Due to the pandemic and the impossibility of physically showing their fabrics to buyers (which is very important as these are materials of great tangible importance), this company quickly updated to continue its activity, creating an online catalog with high-quality professional photographs. Since they didn’t have in-house photographers, our Alphashot 360 machine perfectly suited their technical needs, as it greatly facilitated their work thanks to its intuitive software that automates processes. Tere: Sidogras is a textile company founded in 1953. We sell fabric. Fabric for shirts and outerwear; for pants and jackets. Currently, we have a presence in more than 33 countries and we sell from small shirtmakers to large groups, such as Zara or Massimo Dutti.

We sell fabric and fabric has always, since forever, been sold with swatches. This is an example of a swatch. In the end, fabric is something super tangible that designers and buyers want to see and want to touch.

What kind of service were you looking for?

Laia: We thought a bit about AVisual because ultimately through the pandemic we saw that you couldn’t move, salespeople normally travel and in the end this didn’t exist. So we thought about digitizing the collection and so they could see it via web.

What service have you contracted?

Tere: We contracted the Alphashot 360 machine because in the end we’re not photographers and we had no idea how to do photography. We had never done this before. And the truth is that these machines, which is a relatively small machine, are very easy and very practical to use. So, we placed the machine in a zenith plane and we already had the whole structure set up; the light, the filters… everything we needed. So each time, we were simply talking about having three here, but we had more than three hundred swatches in the collection. So we already had everything fixed and we simply had to keep putting on and taking off each swatch.

What would you highlight about AVisual’s service?

Tere: We believe that in the end, thanks to AVisual, we managed to have a super professional digital catalog of all the fabrics with the machines and with us, who are not photographers.
