How to do a professional streaming?

Nowadays, streaming is one of the most popular formats on the Internet. Many companies, influencers, and users in general share various live content through their profiles. Mastering this modality poses a significant challenge because conducting a streaming and obtaining a truly professional result is not an easy task. Therefore, in this post, we want to give you all the keys on how to do a professional streaming.

Before delving into how to do a professional streaming, it’s worth remembering that broadcasting live over the internet is not as easy as it seems. It requires infrastructure and prior planning that, on many occasions, is overlooked.

What is needed to do a streaming?

To begin with, to conduct a professional streaming, you must have, at minimum, a digital video camera, a capture device, and a computer. However, depending on the type of broadcast being recorded, it will also be necessary to have a good microphone, an adequate lighting system, or headphones, among other accessories.

Subsequently, you will also need to choose the platform to use for transmitting the streaming. Today, there are a wide variety of platforms, some without software and others with software. The main difference between both options is that the former will allow you to transmit the video directly to the streaming platform. On the other hand, platforms without software require the camera to send the signal to a capture device and then transmit it to the computer or mixer.

And to stream on multiple streaming platforms, don’t miss our previous post where we tell you how to do it professionally.

Important checks before conducting a streaming

  • Camera: The camera is the fundamental element and, to a large extent, the result of the streaming depends on it. Of course, the first thing we should check is that the camera we plan to use is suitable for streaming. In this regard, it is most recommended to use a Camcorder-type camera because DSLRs usually don’t capture clean audio, nor do they give an optimal signal through the HDMI port.
  • Promotion: If you’re going to do a live broadcast, it’s also important that you have previously notified your audience so they are prepared and you don’t find yourself with the unpleasant surprise of preparing a streaming that no one connects to.
  • Content: Keep in mind that good planning is key because the streaming format doesn’t allow for errors. To achieve success with your content, it’s also important to have a personal and distinct approach to stand out from the rest.
  • Connection: For the streaming to go as expected, it’s essential to ensure you have a good connection throughout the transmission. You should also check that the data is being sent correctly. For this, we recommend using a capture device with HDMI input and USB 3.0 output.

Where to record a streaming?

The space where to record a streaming is also a factor to consider if we want to obtain a truly professional result. In this sense, it’s important to stop and think about both what the user will see and what they will hear. Everything that appears on screen should be perfectly calculated and, of course, we must ensure we conduct the streaming in a space free from noises that could interfere with the recording.

In any case, if what you desire is to obtain the best result, the most recommendable is to conduct the streaming in a professional studio, like the one we have at AVisual STUDIOS. Our Webcast Zone in Barcelona or our M Space studio in Madrid are two modular studios ideal for recordings or streaming. It allows you to completely customize the space to your liking, as we have different backgrounds, curtains, vinyl floors, and furniture included in the rental price of the space. Additionally, we provide all the audiovisual equipment you may need for rent, as well as a team of technicians who can oversee any phase of the project. Of course, our streaming studio also has the best lighting, thanks to DMX-controlled LED panels, and impeccable sound.
